Hiiiiii, i'm Maya! ⋆.˚ ☾⭒ Welcome to my little corner of the internet .✦ ݁˖
I'm a design engineer and builder at heart. I spent 4 years in the world of startups doing frontend, mainly with Svelte. Most recently I was a Senior Frontend Engineer at ChaseLabs, leading frontend development at the 0 to 1 stage as founding design engineer. Before that, I enjoyed stints at other startups, Outverse and HiPeople.
Going back, my professional engineering journey started at Siemens within the rail industry, in a different field of engineering. 4 years later during the 2020 lockdown, I got curious and started to learn how to code, following Angela Yu's Udemy course every day on the nights and weekends for #100DaysOfCode. I fell in love with being able to create things on the web for myself and other humans, and the rest is history.
My current venture is exploring both my love for community and building, supporting the Community Platforms team at Vercel. I'll be hanging out at the Vercel Community, on Live Sessions, and at UK events and meetups ↗.
I'm a collector of curiosities ~ I love tinkering with side projects and experiments , and I train and compete across different sports. I'm a kickboxer on a journey to black belt (2 more belts to go!), a figure skater, and an olympic weightlifter. I also dabble in dance, and I'm a cat momma of two (Churro and Toast).
