Maya Avendaño
I'm a design engineer — someone who thinks in both visual systems and code, and cares deeply about the space where they meet. I build tools and interfaces that feel intentional, crafted with warmth and care.
Professionally, I work in developer experience — building things that make developers' lives better and more delightful. I've worked at startups across the product and DX space, and I'm also an indie maker building my own things on the side.
I love the craft of the web — the way good design can make something feel inevitable, the way a well-chosen font or a carefully considered interaction can elevate something ordinary into something memorable.
Beyond the screen
When I'm not building, you'll find me kickboxing, figure skating, or lifting heavy things at the gym. I'm a competitive figure skater (adult category — yes, that's a thing!), a kickboxer with a blue belt, and an Olympic weightlifter. Sport is where I go to feel alive.
I also love reading, and have a thing for Filipino food, good tiramisu, and cats (Churro and Toast are my two Maine Coon crosses, and they're the best).
